The story begins in 1938 when Ernest and Emma Pratt purchased land from Edna Williams. Units were built and furnished and Pratt's Beach Cottages opened for business for all those weary travelers passing by on Route 9.  It was then sold to Ben and Anne Kravitz in 1946 who created the nostalgic look of what you see today. They named the property after their daughter, "Marcy" and it became known as Marcy's Beach Front Cabins for almost 30 years. In 1973, George and Hetty Trombley became the new owners, painted everything a nice fresh yellow color and named it Trombley's Motel & Cottages. In 1981, a portion of Trombley's was purchased by Laslo and Ilona Pustay, the yellow color stayed and the property was renamed Kish Duna Motel & Cottages. Laslo and Ilona grew up in Hungary near a tributary of the great Danube River which rises in the Black Forest Mountains of Germany and empties into the Black Sea. Kish Duna, a southern channel of the great Danube River, forms an island in the western part of Hungary called SZIGETKOZ. Schroon Lake reminded them of their homeland and they decided to name their new business Kish Duna which means "Little Danube".

Kish Duna is still owned and operated by the family and we are so excited to celebrate 40 years of service with all of you, our guests - new and old.
